Fire at Five: Pride Event Branding

Friday, June 28th, 2019 - University of Illinois Research Park

While working as a Graphic Design Intern at EnterpriseWorks I had the pleasure of designing print and digital graphics for Fire at Five – Pride in the Park, an outdoor social event. I was excited to create a design that would help commemorate our LGBTQ+ community at Research Park, as well as educate others about the history of Pride. I designed print and digital flyers that were used as advertising for the event. I typeset flyers with a brief history and facts about Pride Month, written by my coworker Casey Griffin. These flyers were passed out to event attendees. Lastly, I designed an 8x9’ photo booth backdrop that was used throughout the evening.

In my design, I used swirling rainbow shapes because they communicate the traditional pride colors, as well as movement and energy. The text is typeset evenly to create a clean look. My goal was to create a memorable design that could function as a poster, or takeaway of the event.
